[Construction Section 36]
COMPOSITE CONSTRUCTION
The composite construction is a building method, with which spatially separated cross sections are with one another actuated connected, by connecting devices at a group joint.
The GROUP can refer also to other different building or materials, however generally steel composite construction is of reinforced concrete and steel meant consisting with composite construction. To call is also the wood composite construction, with which the timber beams by special steel nails or punched and bonded steel sheets are connected with a concrete cover.
In the steel composite construction the steel sections are interconnected with the reinforced concrete components in the group joint by head pin pegs or other steel elements, in order to achieve a common structural effect. Both building materials are optimally used thereby, because the steel is in the best way suitable for the assumption of traction powers and the concrete for clearing away thrust forces. The composite construction is very economically and constructionally favourable therefore in the comparison with pure stealing or buildings of concrete. Also with reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete concrete and steel are interconnected, however the steel divisions in these cases are to be regarded as a reinforcement, armouring, of the concrete.
THE USE
The composite construction is used with buildings of the high, industry and bridge construction for carriers, supports and covers. The cross section of these construction units is built up during the building from the individual cross section parts.
The advantages of the steel composite construction way are compared to concrete constructions it presents first: slimmer constructions with larger spans, second: prefabrication is possible shorter construction period third: smaller dead weight. And compared to pure steel structure works it is even more economically, has increased fire resistance, needs less steel, has increased noise control, has larger heat accumulator capacity, needs less cement.

REINFORCED CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION
The reinforced concrete construction, a form of the massive construction, uses concrete as pressure resistant material as well as reinforcing steel for the admission of traction powers. In problem areas also reinforcing bars made of high-grade steel or reinforcing bars from glass-fiber reinforced plastic GRP are used.
If the reinforced concrete is provided additionally with tendons, one speaks of the prestressed concrete. The pressure resistant, to provide but course-weak concrete in the tensile zone with armouring reinforced concrete. It is regulated in the European standardization with euro code 2.
Today is structural strengthening is a substantial component todays concrete repair industry. Structural strengthening can for the increasing load capacity of the rays of light, which columns, which walls are used and or the plates, the seismic Retro-fitting. By the way for the supporting additional phase or dead loads to be required, those not in the original plan and Design, in order the pressures with intention are enclosed, be produced or the structure disturbances relieve, to repair or in addition, around the original load capacity to damaged structural elements.
