THE LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION
Lightweight construction way is a construction philosophy, which has maximum weight reduction as a goal. The reasons for lightweight construction can be different nature.
A main argument for lightweight construction is the saving of raw materials both with the production of the product and when its use. With driving and airplanes a smaller drive power is necessary for the the same driving andor flight characteristics with consistent lightweight construction. The moreover one the fuel consumption and the weight ratio of means of transport and freight sink improve. So can be dimensioned the total equipment, power source and fuel supply smaller.
Lightweight construction is very important in the construction of vehicles, aircraft construction and has very high value in space travel. Particularly in space travel each carried kilogram costs several thousand euro, with which by lightweight construction way large savings can be obtained.
Also in the building of buildings, particularly in the industry with the building of production, assembly and storage halls the lightweight construction way represents a economical and very flexible alternative. Metallic lightweight construction materials are e.g. aluminum, magnesium, high-strength steel and titanium. Besides GRP components materials are considered as classical lightweight construction materials.
Adaptive wing units
By adaptive wing units one understands systems, which can react to external influences and which are thus flexible.
Flexible systems are in nature a matter of course, as for example the color change of a Chamaleon or also growth processes of bones or trees, which arise also due to mechanical loads. The possibility of the adjustment can offer also with the employment in technical systems advantages.
Current developments within the field of the material sciences make the development possible of adaptive materials, so-called smart material. These are to be varied able their physical or chemical characteristics and thus with an integration into basic structures, like multistoried buildings or bridges to reach an adaptability of these.
