An investment in technology is a planned combination of components to a whole with a specific purpose. Examples of technical equipment can be: the telephone system, the solar system, the radiotelegrapy system, the elevator system, the electrical equipment, or the sewage treatment plant.

The sewage treatment plant as example:

WWTP

A sewage treatment plant is used to purify sewage. The wastewater, consisting of rain water, wastewater from households, factories, etc. from the sewage collected and transported to the wastewater treatment plant. To clean the waste water, physical, biological and chemical processes. Sewage treatment plants are correspondingly three steps.

The cleaning processes are usually:

Mechanical methods: Distance of approximately 30% of fixed or unresolved swimming and suspended (possibly absorption, filtration etc.)
Biological processes: In municipal waste water purification plants (for the dismantling of highly organic wastewater, microbiological degradation processes, possibly bacterial nitrification and denitrification)

Rain and dirty water are either separately or with correspondingly high capacity, sent directly to the treatment plant, which means the discharge will be held rain.
