Garden furniture is a type of furniture specifically designed for outdoor use, for example in the garden, balcony, or terrace. So, it is typically made of weather resistant materials. The materials used to manufacture modern patio furniture include stones, PVC, metals, aluminium, vinyl, different plastic types, glass and treated woods.

Types

Garden furniture is often consisting of a table, four (or sometimes six or more) chairs and a parasol for providing shade from the sun. Most parasols fit through a hole in the centres of the tables and are secured with a base. Long chairs, the so called chaise lounges, which are also common items, are items to have sun bath or relaxing. The garden furniture is available made of different materials. Also, more creative sources like plastic can be used and wee. Among garden furniture, plastic garden furniture is (naturally) waterproof, so you can leave it on outdoor. So, snow or rain water will collect at the back of chairs and in nooks (or crannies). The wood is the most common material for garden furnitures. In general, wooden garden furniture can suffer through exposure to the elements and therefore needs to be periodically treated and polished, for example with wax, varnish etc. The wood material teak is a commonly used material for outdoor furniture. It naturally contains silica which makes it resistant to fungal decay. Many of the effects of water, abrasion, chemicals etc. can be prevented. It is also resistant to acid and alkalis.
Besides the wooden furniture, metal can be sometimes a good choice. Because metal is more durable than wood. Aluminium garden furniture is robust and long-lasting. Aluminium garden furniture should only be cleaned every couple of weeks with a mild washing up liquid and water and then rinsed.
